Family Skate Night

Mikaylynn was a pro! (even though this picture catches her in a fall!) She was better than Miss Workman!

Oh that face says it all! Reilley was so fun to watch as he tried the Cha Cha Slide while skating!

Alex had feet that turned 36o! He was great to watch but each time he fell, he got right back up! Look at that smile!

Erin was fun to watch. She was laughing the whole time and when she laughed, Miss Workman laughed!

Miss Taylor was so cute! She was so much fun to skate with!

Ariel started off on a rough patch with learning to skate but by the end, she was skating on her own! Great job Ariel!

100's Day

Each of the students got a paper that said I would like to have 100 __________. Ariel wrote that she wanted 100 cookies!

Students got a grid with 100 squares. The students wrote their name over and over to fill each square. Alex wrote his name on a 100 grid. He then colored each letter of his name a different color!

We celebrated 100's Day today! It is hard to believe that we have been in school 100 days. Friday will be our real celebration but we did do some fun things today too!

Penguin Day

Taylor's favorite book was Penguin Pete!

Reilley is walking like a penguin!

Devan's favorite book was A Penguin for Pinkerton.

Friday we did some studying of penguins. We talked about how the daddy penguins sit on the eggs and we walked like penguins all day! We also read Penguin Pete and Tacky books!

Miss Workman's Classroom

And here are the kids! They each have a table to sit at and in the middle of the table I keep their crayons, scissors and pencils. Each table has a number and the kids work together to get points for their table. The table with the most points at the end of the week gets to have lunch with Miss Workman on Friday!

Our chicka chicka boom boom tree was just too cute to put away after the first of the year! So, I found a nice little place in the classroom for it. Sonoco, our classroom Partner in Education, donated the trunk of the tree which is a big tube. The top of the tree is a green umbrella covered with green bulletin board paper. At the beginning of the year I had coconuts made out of brown balloons but those did not last!

This is where the kids meet for the Morning Meeting, Kid News, or any time we gather at the carpet.

This is a picture of the leveled library in our classroom. The books are organized my genres, levels, and authors. A big thanks to Mrs. Tillman's dad who made each of the teachers in our building 2 book shelves! They are so nice!

Our Pre-K Friends!

We got to read to our pre-K friends on Friday. They came to our classroom and we read to them some special books that we have been reading from our familiar reading bags. It was a really special time and we hope that we showed the pre-k kids just how much you learn in Kindergarten!

Happy Birthday Erin

I forgot to put Erin on our January snack calendar! Her birthday was on January 3rd. We celebrated her birthday on Thursday this past week and she brought some delicious cupcakes to share with the class. Happy Birthday Erin!

Christmas!

We finally were able to open our Christmas presents on Wednesday at the end of the day! The kids had a great time opening their gifts from one another.

Thank you Mrs. Heltzel!

Mrs. Heltzel, our classroom aid, made every kindergartener a Santa hat with the student's name on it! It took her a lot of extra time but we love them! Unfortunately we were not able to Christmas carol with them on December 19th, due to the snow day! We still got a really nice picture with everyone in their hats! Thanks Mrs. Heltzel!
