Friendship

This last Friday we had so much fun with 2 different sets of friends.
Our first grade friends came in the morning and we did a fun fall activity with them.  Kids loved sharing their chairs with them and getting to know their new friends.
In the afternoon, our third grade buddies came.  We made a cat together and the 3rd graders wrote a story about the cat with their Kindergarten buddy.

These relationships are so important and our class really loves getting to spend time with all of our different friends!

Fall Party

We had a lot of fun at our fall party on Friday!  Students brought their costumes and got all dressed up!  Even Mrs, Hofstetter dresses up as a pig in a blanket!  The kids thought that was pretty fun!
We had to get a silly picture too!

Amara's grandma did games with the class and they loved trying to throw the ball into the scarecrow!

They also made a really fun owl craft with the class!

They played Upset the Basket and had to find things that might be the same as them.
It was a wonderful party and I want to thank all of the parents that helped out!  The kids loved all the fun!

Third Grade Buddies

Throughout the year we will get together with Mrs. Arko's class!  We love spending time with our 3rd grade buddies!  They teach us a lot and become really close friends.  It is also fun because we have a few siblings and neighbors in the class.  Thanks Mrs. Arko's class for reading to us on Friday!

Chester.....The Butterfly

This week Audra brought in a cocoon from Yankee Peddler that she got with her aunt.  We were allowed to watch it hatch from it's cocoon and it was a very exciting week in our class.  The name they chose was Chester, which I love!  We read The Kissing Hand at the beginning of the year and the racoon's name was Chester and it has just stuck with them ever since!

Here is a picture the day we got Chester!

This was Chester on Thursday.  I could tell that something was going to happen this day.  I went around and showed each student what the cocoon looked like.  It became very clear and you could see Chester through the cocoon.

We went on with our day, and five minutes after everyone had looked at them it hatched.  We were very excited.  Here is Audra holding Chester before we set her free!

We stood in a circle to see what she would do!  It took her awhile to take off but the kids absolutely loved chasing her.
Audra shared with the class that Monarch butterflies head south for the winter and she thinks Chester will fly to Mexico but we are all hoping she will come back and visit us in the spring!

Funny Feet Friday

It is always fun to celebrate the letters we learn each week at school.  This past Friday was Funny Feet Friday.  The kids seemed very excited about the whole day and we had some very funny feet!

I love this picture even though Braylen took it and didn't get our feet!  You can at least see that Mrs. Hofstetter has a crazy sock on one foot and not on the other!

Mrs. Wishy Washy

Last week our story was Mrs. Wishy Washy.  We did so many fun activities that go with this story.  The kids above are eating their animal cookies after they dunk them in the mud (pudding).  In the story the farm animals roll and jump in the mud and Mrs. Wishy Washy gives them a bath.

A New Year - Kindergarten Class 2013-2014

I have a new class of 25 Kindergarten students!  We had a great first week!  We took our state KRAL test, began learning classroom procedures and did a lot of Chicka Chicka Boom Boom activities.  Here is my new class!  I love taking their picture on their first day of Kindergarten.
